Our facilities:

Sustainable Aquatics occupies a 15,000 square foot dry-floor hatchery and offices in Jefferson City, Tennessee, in the heart of the beautiful Tennessee Valley. Currently dedicated to producing several species of Amphiprion, we have room to expand and plan to offer additional species in the future. Onsite food culture facilities and state of the art aquarium systems allow us complete control over all aspects of livestock care. The result is eye-popping color and vibrant health.
We are dedicated to expanding the horizons of aquaculture and to the preservation of the Earth's ecosystems. We have assembled a team of experts who share our long term vision of an aquarium industry supported by a network of aquaculturists worldwide.
Meet our team!
John Carberry, Chairman
John founded and funded SA, as well as inspired Matthew to follow his lifelong passion. John regularly advises and encourages everyone on the team with his business acumen. He is also President of Dynamic Defense Materials, Inc., located near Philadelphia, PA. He earned his degree at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, and has a strong background in both engineering and business.
Matthew J. Carberry, President
Matthew earned degrees from the University of Tennessee in ecology and evolutionary biology and marine biology. Combining his knowledge with extensive experience in dry-floor hatchery and laboratory work at SA has enabled Matthew to apply advanced technology to establish SA's leadership in this field. A life-long marine aquarium hobbyist, Matthew channeled this passion into building a hatchery focused on high quality, optimization of color and size, and a commitment to preservation of natural reef habitats. Matthew enjoys outdoor activities and playing the flute and piano.
Lisa Carberry, CFO and Administrative Manager
Lisa has a graduate degree in business systems from the University of California, Irvine and an undergraduate degree in Biology from Marist College. Her career has focused on finance and administration, most recently serving as the Corporate Comptroller of Neptec Optical Solutions, Inc. Lisa is the proud mother of SA's President, Matthew Carberry, as well as siblings Andrew Carberry and Jennifer Carberry. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, and snow skiing.
